I have been a fan of Brendan Fraser since Encino Man. Yes, I thought that movie was funny, still do. Of course, his acting has matured, and so have the roles he chooses to play. His newest movie, Inkheart, looks to be a real crowd pleaser. Inkheart is described as:

Mo has the special talent to bring characters out of books. One night he brings
out three characters from Inkheart, a story set in medieval times and filled
with magical beings. Capricorn and Basta, two villains, and Dustfinger, a
fire-eater. Now, 10 years later Meggie discovers the truth and it's up to
her to escape Capricorn's evil grasp.

I was able to get hubbs to go see a movie with me about a month ago, which was a shocker because he hates the movie theater. This looks like a movie that will be sooo much better if you see it on the BIG screen, so I will begin working my charm on him now so when it open in theaters on January 23, I will have him convinced to take me.

Because I am the so nice, and want to start this New Year off in a giving mood, I am giving away a $20.00 Fandango voucher that you can use to go see this movie, or any movie you would like to see. Spend as you please.

Here's how to enter:

> Leave a comment telling me what your favorite Brendan Fraser movie is, if you don't have one, that's fine too. Just leave a comment. Be sure to leave your email address in case you are the winner.

>EXTRA ENTRYS: 2 extra entries if you blog about this giveaway. Please leave two separate comments for each extra entry, and a link to the page where you blogged about the giveaway.

This contest is open for entries 1/1/09 through Sunday, 1/18/09. I will draw a winner at random and contact you to claim your $20.00 Fandango voucher. The lucky winner will have 3 days to respond and claim their prize.

Happy New Year to you all, and good luck.

One extremely HOT cup of tea...

Posted by: Meredith

I received this little gem of a travel coffee mug for Christmas.

From blog

This is the best travel mug ever! It's a Contigo Autoseal mug. Mine is from Caribou Coffee, I checked their website and did not see it for sale, so I guess you can only find it in the stores. Anyway, I have had a sore throat the past couple of days and thought it a good idea to make a bit of hot tea with honey this morning instead of coffee.

Well I boiled my water, added it to the mug with a tea bag and the honey, closed the lid and hit the road for work. Of course, any other mug would allow heat to escape so that by the time traffic came to a stand-still because some moron is getting a speeding ticket and all traffic has to stop to look, the contents of your cup is a perfect drinking temperature. However, it never stays that temperature, you have to drink all your coffee/tea in less than 5 minutes or it is too cold to be good.

So, when I got to work, my tea was still way too hot. Another half hour after that, still way too hot. The solution, I could just pour a little at a time into another cup and sip all morning on hot tea. This mug allowed me to enjoy my hot tea and not have to chug it down to beat the chill factor.

I highly recommend finding one of these mugs if you are a coffee addict/hot tea fiend. You will not regret the purchase. Here are some reviews I found on the internet:

iVillage: Commuting CompanionOctober 2007"If you can't start the day without your morning caffeine rush, you shouldn't live without this travel mug from Contigo.""The sleek, self-sealing mug has become my must-have commuting companion." "Best of all, it never, ever spills or leaks thanks to a button that seals the drinking hole when I'm not sipping - no thinking necessary."
Aspen Times: An Extreme Travel Mug for Coffee LoversJanuary 2007"The Contigo Extreme Travel Mug. I never start a day without this trusted companion.""The Contigo is a coffee junkie's dream."
Ethical Bean Coffee Company: Stainless Steel AUTOSEAL® Mug named their new Good MugJuly 2008"I have been in on the selection of this mug from the beginning, and am proud to say that we've picked a winner... Ethical manufacturing, leak proof-spill proof, highest quality and easy to clean. The Good Mug is a great mug, yours to enjoy for a lifetime."

Ever had motion sickness?

Posted by: Meredith

So Hubbs and I are preparing to set sail of the Carnival Freedom.

We are so excited. We went ahead an forked up some extra cash to get a balcony room.

I have just one concern. MOTION SICKNESS!

I can get ill while riding in a car on roads I know while looking down into my purse to find something.
The last time I was on an airplane, I worried about how Little B. would do, but I ended up being the one taking deep breaths and trying to focus.

I was out on the lake in a canoe a few years back and when I got back on dry ground the spinning began, to the point I felt like I had been taking tequila shots all day.

If you have issues with motion sickness, or if you have been on a cruise and experienced it, please let me know what you did to prevent/treat it.

The Carnival website says they will give you free motion sickness medicine, but it is an antihistamine, which if it is anything like benedryl, I will end up sleeping the entire time we are at sea.

I think I will head to the Dr. office the Saturday and see if they will prescribe the motion sickness patches. Maybe they will work without making me sleepy.

All advice is welcome, what works, what doesn't...

Totally Talented Tuesday #4

Posted by: Meredith

Check out Two of a kind for more Totally Talented Tuesday posts!
Little B. is very talented at learning new things. He learned how to fly his new helicopter so fast. I didn't think a kid under 3 would be able to learn the controls, but he has mastered the up/down front/back of the helicopter and loves flying the thing.

Our Christmas in a hurry...

Posted by: Meredith

I am going to try to keep this short and sweet, if you feel like I do, glad the holidays are behind us, you will want it short and sweet. Well, not many words, but lots of pics.

Christmas Eve:
I took B. to my grandfather's (his great grandfather) to visit with some of my dad's side of the family. He got these really neat trucks from my grandfather that are wooden and they are built like puzzles. He Loves them.

From Christmas

He also really enjoyed playing with a monster garbage truck that his cousin brought.

From Christmas

B. also got to 'drive' the big tractor.

From 1208

I took this picture while B. and I waited for his dad to pick him up from the McDonald's parking lot. I am smiling on the outside, but super sad that he will not be at home Christmas morning.

Christmas Eve evening:

Here is our tree with B.'s presents from momma and poppa. The big present to the left is Hubby J.'s surprise present. He thought we were not exchanging gifts, but he works so hard for us, I had to get him something just for him.

From Christmas

Hubby J. didn't want a picture of him in his jammies to be on the blog, but here it is anyway, enjoying his new V-Rocker gaming chair.

From Christmas

Christmas Morning:

Without Little B. here to wake us at the crack of dawn we got to sleep in a bit. We watched something stupid, I'm sure, I can't remember, on TV and then got all dressed up in not lounge clothes to go see my mom's side of the family.

Christmas Evening:

Me, B., and Uncle Rich. This picture captures by big brother perfectly, me, on the other hand, someone snapped the picture mid-sentence. Not cute.

From Christmas

My uncle Rod in the kitchen. Do you see that? The door is open on Christmas Day! I thought it was supposed to snow on Christmas, at least that's that the stories say. Loving the hair!

From Christmas

The boys out talking about boy stuff, I'm sure, in the yard away from the rest of us.

From Christmas

Granny, Uncle Adam, and B. eating cheese. Yes, mom is telling me something that she felt deserved a finger wag. No, she was not yelling at me to not take pictures of her while she is eating. Love you mom.

From Christmas

My beautiful Missy. Silly girl, she is wet from playing in the fountain. Unfortunately, this is the last picture that will ever be taken of her. Later on in the evening, just as people were begining to go home, Miss Miss got hit by a car and didn't survive. I'm sad to say she is in heaven now.

From Christmas

Mom's best friends, Joyce and Nancy, stopped by. Don't ask what they are doing, I have no clue.

Boxing Day (December 26):

December 26 is my birthday, so of course I had to spend the day without Hubbs becasuse 364 days is obviously not enough time for him to schedule to be off work. (hint hint for next year, hubbs)

I decided to do something I love, I made a fire in the back yard.

From 1208

Hubbs was impressed. He seriously thought this country girl couldn't build a fire all by myself. Looks good to me. Little B. enjoyed his bag of grapes while keeping warm by the fire.

We took his Monster Truck for a drive around the neighborhood, bag of grapes in the passenger seat. ( We did have to pay for it the next day, grapes lead to very messy diapers, I don't recommend allowing you child to eat a whole bag of grapes!)

From Christmas

Later that night, the in-laws came over along with Aunt Joie, and my father to give B. more Christmas presents. This helicopter is all B. has been asking for 24 hours a day since he got it.

And of course, with Hubbs looking silly in B.'s new hard hat!
